Hyderabad: Governor of two Telugu states today stressed the need for doubling the income of farmers who are providing food to people and to the nation.
He was addressing international seed conference ISTA 2019 at HICC here along with Agriculture Minister S Niarnjan Reddy and state farm coordination chairman G Sukhender Reddy and others. On the occasion he exhorted the farm scientists, experts and officials to see that the conference comes with suitable decisions that will help double the income of the farmers. He expressed confidence that the international seed conference should push agriculture activity to a new high and ensure benefits to the farmers.
“ISTA conference decisions should give great results”, he said, adding that farming should develop for food production. Though industrialization is on growth path, the farming activity is proving to be loss-making activity and the farmers are at receiving end the Governor expressed concern. Since there is a need for increasing the farm income by double all the stakeholders have to put in combined efforts to that end, Narasimhan added. Telangana government is taking strong measures against fake and spurious seeds which should be checked from entering the market, he felt. Being the capital of Telangana Hyderabad is now turned out to be the seed capital, the Governor added.
