Tirumala: The auspicious ritual of Pavitrotsavam will be performed at the Srivari temple from August 11-13th with Ankurarpanam on August 10.
The Agama ritual is aimed to enhance the divinity and also to ward off bad impact of lapses, if any, during year long conduction of temple rituals, festivals etc., say Agama exponents of the Srivari temple. The centuries old practice was revived in 1962 and is performed in rigid traditions as a three-day colourful event.
On all three days snapana thirumanjanam will be performed to the utsava idols of Sri Malayappaswamy and his consorts in tne morning.
In the evenings the richly decorated and bejewelled utsava idols will be paraded on the mada streets. While Pavitra Prathishta is conducted on August 11, Pavitra samarpana on August 12, and Purnahuti are performed on August 13.
TTD has cancelled scheduled Arjita sevas on all three days including Vasantotsavam Sahasra Deepalankara sevas on August 10, Visesha puja, Asta Dala pada padmaradhana, Kalyanotsavam, unjal seva, arjita Brahmotsavams, Vasantotsavam and Sahasra Dipalankara sevas on August 11-13.
