Hyderabad: Marriott International, a USA multinational diversified multinational hospitality company that manages and franchises a broad portfolio of hotels and related facilities for stay is expanding its footprint in Hyderabad. It owns brands such as Marriott, Sheraton, Le Meridian, Westin, Courtyard Hotels, Fairfield Inn & Suites, and Marriott Executive Apartments. Almost all of them have their presence in Hyderabad.
The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace presently located at Raheja Mindsapce in Madhapur, which is a 427 room, the decade-old property is further expanding. According to Parag Sawhaney, General Manager of Westin, it is adding up another property, just 800 meters away from the present location. It will be a 168 room property. It will be ready to open by June 2020, he informed while interacting with the media on Saturday night at Marriott Hyderabad while briefing about “Shaadi by Marriott” at its launch. On this December 21st, The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace will be completed ten years of great service to its patrons he said.
He was addressing media along with his colleagues, fellow General Managers of different Marriott Hotels located in Hyderabad. They include Sudeep Sharma – General Manager – Hyderabad Marriott & Courtyard; Vikas Sharma – Sheraton;Le Meridian Hyderabad (Rakesh Upadhyay, General Manager); Shibani Malhotra – Marriott Executive Apartments.
The group is opening a new property, Le Meridian at Gachibowli in Hyderabad. It is ready for inauguration on November 18 this month informed Rakesh Upadhyay, General Manager of Le Meridian, who assembled for the launch of “Shaadi by Marriott” along with his other colleagues. It will be 281 room property. “We have six brands in Hyderabad currently. They include Marriott Hyderabad; The Westin Mindspace, Hyderabad; Sheraton Hotel Hyderabad; Le Meridian Hyderabad and Marriott Executive Apartments; Fairfield. Together with all these six existing properties and one getting inaugurated on November 18 and another in mid-June, , Marriott cumulatively will have room strength of 1768 in the city, added Mr Sudeep Sharma, General Manager of Hyderabad Marriott Hotels and Courtyard.
Speaking further, Sudeep Sharma added that Marriott is the only Hotel Company in India hosted 3500 plus marriages across 120 plus hotels in India in the last one year. More than one wedding or wedding-related activity was performed last year at any given day across its properties. It is a unique distinction no one holds, he says.
“Indian Wedding industry is very big. Right now it is estimated to be around Rs 2,00,000 crore and is going at the rate of 25 to 30 per cent per annum. The Destination wedding industry is also catching up very fast. It is estimated to be around Rs 50,000 crore and even cross that mark by the year 2020. Nearly 1.5 crore weddings are celebrated every year across India. And 7.5 to 10 lakh weddings take place in the Telugu States every year, of which a minimum of four lakh couples tie a nuptial knot in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Nearly 1500 to 2000 big weddings are held in the state capital each year.
