Fishermen warned not to take tourists for ferry in country-made boats

Nalgonda: Miryalaguda deputy superintendent of police Srinivas on Friday said fishing in Nagarjuna Sagar Project was banned after the recent boat mishap in Papikondalu in the neighboring Andhra Pradesh State.

Speaking at a meeting organized with fishermen at Nagarjuna Sagar, Srinivas explained the safety measures to be taken while going into the waters by the fishermen on boats for fishing. Making it clear that tourists should not be taken for ferrying in country boats, the DSP warned that stern action will be taken as per the law against those who violated it. Fishermen should not allow the tourists into their country-made boats for boating in waters of Nagarjuna Sagar Project.

DSP Srinivasulu also suggested to the fishermen to take safety measures  and wear life jackets while going for fish hunting. Fishermen should not go into the water for fishing in drunken condition, he added.

            Haliya Circle Inspector  Dhanujaiah Goud, Nagarjuna Sagar Sub-Inspector Seenaiah, Fishermen  Association president Appa Rao and  secretary Srinivas also attended the meeting.
