Hyderabad: Congress MLA from Sangareddy Toorpu Jayaprakash Reddy alias Jagga Reddy on Tuesday said it was the Congress and communist leaders, who played a crucial role in the armed struggle of the erstwhile Hyderabad State. He said the Hyderabad State ruled by the erstwhile Nizam was merged into the Indian Union due to the still fight by Congress and Communist parties.
Jagga Reddy said towering Congress leaders like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel took steps to avoid any problem to the people of the State after its merger. He said it was the greatness of both Pandit Nehru and Sardar Patel that Hyderabad merger was peaceful. He also said the merger was the result of smooth coordination among Hindu, Muslim and Christians of Hyderabad State.
He said the Communist parties used to fight for the rights of the people after the merger of Hyderabad State into Indian Union, but they vanished from the scene after formation of Telangana State. He hoped the Communist parties would fight on the public problems in the days to come.
