Congress men stage novel protest on bad roads in city

Hyderabad: Worried over delay in filling potholes on city roads, the Congress workers on Wednesday held a novel protest by filling potholes with pictures of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and TRS working president K. Tarakarama Rao.

The Congress workers, led by TPCC Minorities Department chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail, visited different areas and dumped pictures of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and his son KTR. Holding the KCR and KTR responsible for pathetic condition of roads in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, Sohail said the Chief Minister has no time to visit any area in the city to check the bad condition of roads while his son KTR was busy with political activities. Both went missing after the TRS gained control over GHMC, he added.

Speaking to mediapersons, Abdullah Sohail said the bad roads in city have turned into ‘killer roads’ as 1,155 people were killed in 8,783 road accidents in the last three-and-a-half years ever since TRS won the GHMC elections. Of 1,258 accidents reported this year till June 30, as many as 446 cases pertained to two-wheelers and 129 were killed.

The Congress leader alleged that the TRS government has neglected the twin cities and the Chief Minister did not conduct even a single review meeting on Hyderabad issues since he took charge for the second term in December 2018 despite he was holding Municipal Administration & Urban Development portfolio.

TPCC spokesperson Syed Nizamuddin, City Congress Minorities Dept Chairman Sameer Waliullah, Sajid Shareef and others participated in the agitation.
