Hyderabad: AICC Secretary Challa Vamshichand Reddy on Tuesday said that they were opposing the decision of the state government to carry out uranium mining at Nallamalla forest. Noting that Nallamalla forest is the Ooty of Telangana state, he alleged that the rulers of the state government were trying to exploit and loot it.
He said that the state government had stopped the mining when the congress party agitated on the issue, but added that rulers were now going ahead to mine the forest by citing permissions from the central government. Addressing media persons along with the Nagarkurnool DCC president Vamshi Krishna at gandhi Bhavan in the city, Reddy made it clear that they would not allow the uranium mining by citing that it was the abode of chenchu tribals. He asked the rulers if they were going ahead with their decision to mine the forest in order to help the multinational companies while noting that the uranium mining was stopped in Kadapa District of Andhra Pradesh state. He claimed that mining would lead to disabilities among the newly born children of the forest area.
