Hyderabad: As many of 84.96 per cent of the voters exercised their franchise in the Huzurnagar assembly constituency, when voting took place today. The by-election was necessitated following the resignation of the sitting member TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, who was later elected to Nalgonda Lok Sabha seat.
Voting started in 302 polling stations in seven mandals at 7 am and ended by 5 pm. As many as 28 candidates are there in the poll fray, including three women. The main contest is said to be between TRS candidate Saidi Reddy and Congress nominee Padmavati. BJP’s Kota Rama Rao, and TDP’s Kiranmayi are also in the fray.
A total of 2,36, 842 voters are there in the constituency—1,20,427 women and 1,16,415 men.
The results of the bypoll will be announced after counting of the votes slated for October 24.
